Redundant skin
When talking about redundant skin, it is referencing the area on the eyelids, and on the lower face with advancing age, to create the appearance of jowls destroying the lower jaw line.
This is one of those areas where surgery is often the preferred choice, to pull the skin upward toward the ear and removing the excess – otherwise known as a facelift.
“While the face lift looks fine around the jaw line, the lines around the eyes, which should point down at lower lateral eye corner, point toward the ear even in the best hands,” comments Draelos.
“The appearance is not natural and noticeable immediately because the smile lines of expression do not convey a normal female appearance.”
