Eyelashes
Next up, are the eyelashes, given that we often associate long eyelashes as a sign of beauty.
Again, Dr Draelos points out that this is a factor we take for granted as children, as the anagen hair grows more rapidly and the eyelashes achieve longer length.
Eyelashes do not grow as long with advancing age and as upper eyelid blepharochalasis can cover the natural eyelashes with redundant skin, many women are resorting to artificial eyelashes.
“For these false eyelashes, longer appears to be better. While the modern false eyelashes use a softer polymer to construct the eyelashes and improved adhesives allow them to appear more attractive, they still look artificial, as they are longer and denser than normal eyelash hairs,” says Dr Draelos.
Gain, there can be functional issues here, but the dermatologist again is pointing out that this is an image of beauty that we desire from an artificial source.
