First wave speakers announced

Our first wave of speakers for the Skin Microbiome Innovation summit have been announced.

They include high profile names from brands at the cutting edge of R&D in the area of the skin’s microbiome, as well as world-class market research professionals and regulation experts.

Names include:

  • Ioannis Efthymiopolous, Euromonitor International
  • Marie Drago, Gallinée
  • Kit Wallen-Russel, JooMo
  • Jasmina Aganovic, Mother Dirt
  • Patrick Gonry, Cosmetics Consultants Europe
  • Nicole Fall, Asian Consumer Intelligence

Truly global in scope, the event will explore the potential of the skin’s microbiome for the beauty industry on a worldwide scale, while offering focus on specific categories (hair care, scalp care, skin care, colour cosmetics and more) within the broader trend, as well as specific regional demands.

Why the skin microbiome?

Microbiome refers to the collection of microbes - i.e. bacteria, fungi, viruses, etc. - that live in or on human cells.

The food industry has long been marketing products - yoghurts, drinks - with claims that they can balance or promote healthy gut bacteria.

Now this trend, on the back of increasing research into the diversity of the microbiome of the skin, has begun moving into skin care in a serious way.

New brands like Gallinée and JooMo are leading the charge in responding to the potential, and big name manufacturers including Unilever and Johnson & Johnson have been investing into research.
