J&J has permission from EU to acquire feminine care brands

The EU Commission has given the go ahead for Johnson and Johnson (J&J) to purchase two French feminine hygiene companies.

Laboratoires Polivé and Vania were already part owned by J&J and now the purchase of the remaining 50 percent of the companies has been approved.

Although all three companies produce sanitary items, the Commission’s investigation found that the transaction posed no threat to competition.

The investigation focused mainly on the French market for tampons where Vania and J&J Consumer France are well known, passing the acquisition because J&J’s products are only available in pharmacies whereas the other two are mainly supermarket brands.
