Listerine Agent Cool Blue is a mouthwash that colors the teeth blue to encourage children to pay more attention when brushing but the product returned to the labs for reformulation in April last year.
J&J voluntarily recalled four million bottles when its own tests revealed contamination by microorganisms.
Now the Agent Cool Blue is back on the shelves with an improved preservative system.
“We’re proud to bring back a reformulated Listerine Agent Cool Blue that features an enhanced preservative system and that has undergone rigorous quality assurance testing,” said Kathy Weber, vice president of oral care at J&J.
Making brushing fun
The idea behind the mouthwash is to encourage children to brush well by appealing to their imagination and sense of fun.
Poor brushing habits are often to blame for the fact that children continue to turn to the fillings and cavities.
J&J therefore developed Agent Cool Blue to help parents instill good oral care habits in their children.
“Listerine Agent Cool Blue helps support parents in this effort by serving as a great cleaning guide for their kids while giving a sense of accomplishment that they are doing a good job to reinforce the positive behavior,” said Dr. Kaneta R. Lott, board certified pediatric dentist and a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
