In-Cosmetics 2006 opens its doors in Barcelona
three days will see some frantic activity as exhibitors and
industry professionals from all over the world clamber through the
show's gates to do business.
According to organisers Reed Exhibitions, the last three events have averaged an attendance of 360 suppliers and 6,000 industry professionals, of which 75 per cent of whom have been from international desitinations.
The event is held in a different city each year, with last year's show being held in Berlin. Over the years the event has built up its reputation to become one of the industry's biggest annual international events.
This year Reed says it is expecting its 15th annual event to grow, in line with a rise in the number of exhibitors that have booked stands. Indeed, compared to the last time the event was held in Spain back in 2000, it is estimated to have expanded by 50 per cent.
Now representing an exhibition floor space of 6,400 square metres, this also shows a 24 per cent increase on its size when it was held in Berlin last year. Fuelling this growth is a total of 354 companies that have signed up to exhibit this year, 40 of which are taking part for the first time.
The event will include a free educational programme providing an insight into future scientific advances, market trends and regulations, together with a number of leading industry players, including Eastman, Croda, Beraca, Dow Corning, Rhodia, Silab and Lonza, as well as many smaller players.
This In-Cosmetics will focus on creativity within the industry, an aspect of the industry that is proving increasingly important to maintain consumer interest and a means of ensuring that growth can be sustained in what is largely a market with limited growth prospects.
In line with the creativity theme, the event will be spotlighting innovation within the new 'in-focus' section, a dedicated area to showcase new ingredients, technologies and application concepts, backed up by a conference programme that will feature a selection of industry specialists.
The first in-focus will highlight the increasing importance of Brazil's Amazon region to the industry, showcasing a selection of the natural resources that are currently available to the industry from this resource-rich area.
On the stands there will also be a host of new innovations and products that will be highlighted by individual companies. One of those will be Eastman, which is featuring its new premium natural active ingredient for topical skin care and other personal care treatments.
Likewise, Silab will introduce Coheliss anti-wrinkle treatment, which focuses on restoring skin tension forces to the dermal layers. It works to restore skin synthesis and proteins, as well as stimulating the skin's stress fibres to smooth out the skin.
This year's In-Cosmetics exhibition is being held at Fira Barcelona, Montjuic 1, Hall 8, 4-6 April, while next year's event will be held at the Paris Expo, Paris, 17-19 April, 2007.
