Mintel brushes up on colour cosmetics trends
According to Vivienne Rudd director of global insight and personal care, there is the increasing use of segmentation, exemplified by products such as Napoleon Perdis' Auto Pilot Concealer Primer, which has "taken primers into new territory, creating the perfect canvas for concealer."
With the continued march of Mixologiste, where colour cosmetics takes on the language and technology of other categories, Rudd says brands like Revlon are going much further than previous perfumed polishes moving away from simple fruits and florals to a more sophisticated expression of fine fragrance, right down to the bottle.
Similarly, a combination of terminology of hybrids is drawing attention to the curling and conditioning qualities of a product. Whilst stand-out packaging and quirkiness also plays a key role in colour cosmetics.
