A new acrylic coating claimed to guarantee seal retention in humid
environments has encouraged Colgate-Palmolive to introduce a new
line of soap-bar packaging. The new film, Bicor MBR666, is believed
to be ideal for the design of bathroom products.

"The film is coated both sides with a new generation acrylic coating. The coating technology provides enhanced sealing properties, especially in low-pressure sealing conditions," said Peter Haltenberger, product manager of ExxonMobil Chemical Films Europe.

Bicor MBR666's structure and special proprietary coating is claimed to provide a combination ofproperties that make it an attractive solution for soap bars in particular. ExxonMobil also claims that the film's transparency and gloss creates a high quality surface for printing designs.

Colgate-Palmolive recently introduced its new line of soap-bar packaging based onBicor MBR666, in which a double layer of the film is used in lamination. The new structure replaces a 50µ OPP/OPP structure and has been used by the personal care company in Italy, Turkey, Mexico, Malaysia and India.

The Films Business of ExxonMobil Chemical is a leading global supplier of a full range of oriented polypropylene (OPP) film for flexible packaging and labeling applications. Its European headquarters is located in Luxembourg.
