Dr Jane Goodall joins Neptune Wellness and IFF partnership

The deal will bring an at-mass line of co-branded wellness products to market. Forest Remedies by Dr. Jane Goodall will be manufactured as part of the collaboration between Neptune and International Flavors and Fragrances.

As Cosmetics Design reported, IFF and Neptune Wellness teamed up in October of 2019​: “IFF is a well-recognized leader and innovator in taste, scent, nutrition and ingredients,” ​commented Neptune Wellness CEO Michael Cammarata at the time. “We could not be more excited at the potential of combining the resources of our two organizations to develop plant-based consumer products, including hemp-derived CBD products.”

And just this past March, that collaboration resulted in the launch of two brands: Forest Remedies and Ocean Remedies​. The initial Forrest Remedies product portfolio comprised 17 SKUs, 6 of which are essential oils, the others are topical and ingestible products formulated with hemp extracts.

Forest Remedies by Dr. Jane Goodall expected to launch in Summer 2020

“I am very pleased to partner with Michael Cammarata and the team at Neptune Wellness Solutions to develop natural, plant-based products that support health and wellness in an environmentally sustainable and socially responsible manner,” ​says Goodall in this week’s press release.

The two have worked together in the past, on a scented deodorant deal when Cammarata was CEO of Schmidt’s Naturals and before that on a philanthropic partnership between the Schmidt + Co Foundation and the Jane Goodall Institute.

“This,” ​affirms Goodall, “marks my third partnership with Michael and reflects our mutual goal of enabling consumers to make ethical purchasing decisions to create a better world for all living things.”

There’s also a charitable donation aspect to the new Forrest Remedies partnership. Neptune Wellness has given $25,000 to the Jane Goodall Institute and will give 5% of sales from the co-branded product line to the Institute as well as 5% of sales from any Forrest Remedies product purchased using the promo code ‘DrJaneGoodall’.

The Forest Remedies by Dr. Jane Goodall product line will include natural, plant-based hand sanitizers, essential oils, and hemp-derived products as well, according to this week’s press release.

A pandemic that accentuates the power of the planet

In this week’s media release announcing the partnership, both Goodall and Cammarata acknowledge the current Coronavirus crisis and draw a link between personal and planetary wellness.

“The health of people, animals and the environment are interconnected. This pandemic demonstrates this,” ​says Goodall in her remarks to the press.

“However,” ​she continues, “if we all make ethical choices, every day, our collective power for change is great. I believe there is still a window of time to heal the planet before it is too late, but only if we each make the right choices every day. I believe that Neptune's Forest Remedies brand is part of the solution and that is why I am proud to partner with Michael and Neptune to bring new Forest Remedies products to market.”

Cammarata expects the pandemic to inform consumer behavior going forward: “In light of COVID-19,” ​he says in the release, “we believe there will be a renewed focus and emphasis on personal self-care. The purchasing decisions consumers make to support their health and wellness will have a lasting impact on the environment and our collective health and wellness.”

And he adds, “I am delighted to partner with Dr. Goodall again to bring natural health and wellness products to market that will support our mutual goals of environmental conservation and reforestation, while at the same time delivering healthier consumer solutions.”
