L’Oréal launches an in-house app to welcome new hires
Since June 1st, the L’Oréal Fit Culture App has been available to employees free for download in both the Apple Store and the Play Store. And for now is accessible in 10 languages: English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, Mandarin, Turkish, Russian, Indonesian, and Italian.
The new onboarding tool is intended “for younger newcomers,” according to a media release from L’Oréal.
“Our objective with the Fit Culture App is to take our onboarding practices to the next level and to give each and every employee, from the moment they arrive, the keys to succeed in full alignment with company values such as multiculturalism, diversity and inclusion,” Laurent Reich, the company’s director of international learning practice says in the release.
Leadership
L’Oréal is often looked to as a corporate role model in the cosmetics and personal care industry. The company strives to set the pace on issues from boardroom equality to climate change and more. Building the Fit Culture App essentially in-house, though in close collaboration with Regards Klaxoon, is likely to influence how the industry will approach and utilize technology from the inside out.
The media release emphasizes that the L’Oréal Culture team designed the app and that developers worked closely with 50 new hires working for the company in 30+ countries.
Function
The Fit Culture App is meant to be used for about one month and for only 5 – 10 minutes each day. The app incorporated text messages, video content, testimonials from other L’Oréal employees, as well as games, quizzes, and activities that engage new hires beyond the app.
App users “progressivley discover Insider Secrets (key events, anecdotes, company myths and legends) to earn points and eventually become true #CultureGurus,” explains the media release.
The app is only one part of the full company onboarding process. HR runs a full six-month program for new hires. The L’Oréal Fit Culture App will help acquaint employees with the company’s history and culture. And, it also includes learnings on important work world strategies and practices such as entrepreneurship, networking, collaboration, and agility.
