Evonik, a creative industrial group from Germany, is a global leader in specialty chemicals, and its amino acids are used in Europe across the dietary supplements, sports nutrition, flavours and cosmetics industries.
The company has just announced the partnership with Univar, which it says began in May, noting that it is intended to offer European customers a local and tailored service.
“We aim to provide our customers with expert advice, tailored to their specific needs. With this in mind, we have decided to task Univar, an experienced global player, with the distribution of our amino acids for application in dietary supplements, sports nutrition, flavors, and cosmetics,” explained head of pharma & food ingredients at Evonik, Dr. Thomas Hermann.
In a statement, Evonik described Univar as well established in the key segments targeted by the new distribution partnership, describing the company as “an ideal strategic partner”.
Dr. Axel Schröder, Head of Sales & Services EMEA at Evonik Health Care, noted that its local positioning would see Univar offer European customers a responsive and relevant service.
"Our European customers benefit from Univar’s strong local presence, quality-centered mindset, skilled technical support and sales organization,” he said.
Focus on innovation
Further afield than its European efforts, Evonik’s ongoing focus on innovation is set to see it strengthen on an international scale.
Last year, the company announced its intention to invest over EUR 4 billion over the next decade into R&D, looking to promote international expansion, open innovation and sustainable solutions at the company.
"Our intention is to turn Evonik into one of the world's most innovative companies," affirmed Klaus Engel, the Chairman of the Executive Board, at its R&D press conference in Wesseling. "Innovations are a key element of our growth strategy."
