Oxea expands manufacturing footprint in the Americas
Germany-based Oxea has expanded its manufacturing reach in the Americas as it starts work on the construction of a new facility for the production of Propanol in Bay City, Texas.

Propanol is used to manufacture products such as cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, printing inks, coatings and adhesives.

For the purposes of cosmetics, several derivatives of propanol, includingAminomethyl Propanol and Aminomethyl Propanediol, which are alkanolaminesthat are used in a variety of hair care and skin care products, including creams, lotions, hair sprays and hair dyes.

Facilities will be ready to roll in late 2016

The unit is also being built alongside another new facility that will be used for the manufacture of 2-Ethylhexanol (2-EH), which is used in the production of acrylates, nitrates and plasticizers.

Oxea representatives say that the first phase of the construction for the facilities is now under way and that both are scheduled to come on stream in late 2016.

The company says that the expansion plan is aimed at better serving its customer base across the Americas, which includes both the North American and Latin American markets.

Commitment to the Americas

“We continue to significantly invest into our production platforms to support the growth of our customers and meet the rising demands of the markets,” ​said Miguel Mantas, Member of Oxea’s Executive Board and responsible for Marketing and Sales.

“We also continue to invest in Propanol to support our customers’ growth,”​ he added.

Dr. Martina Flöel, spokesperson for the Oxea executive also stated that the expansion of the production facilities underlined continued competitiveness of the petrochemicals industry in the Americas, while also underlining the company’s commitment to the region.
