Cell culture biotech startup Avant has launched a multifunctional protein for the active beauty market made from cultivated fish cells – an ingredient it says will carve out an entirely new segment in anti-ageing and protective skin care.
An anti-ageing active based on an extremely rare form of apple stem
cells has been launched by Mibelle Biochemistry, promising to
protect skin stem cells and slow the senescence of hair follicles.
The advantages of deriving active ingredients for cosmetics
products from plant cell cultures were discussed at this year's
congress, 'Plants for Human Health in the Post Genomic Era', held
in Helsinki.
