Focusing on new market frontiers is a growing necessity, says Cosmetics Europe
The personal care industry constantly needs to keep focusing on new frontiers in the market and keep evolving in a digital world to stay ahead of the game, says Cosmetics Europe ahead of its annual week-long event held in Brussels.

The European personal care trade association hosts the third Cosmetics Europe Week 13 to 17 June 2016, marking 40 years of harmonized EU cosmetics legislation, exploring major global trends and strategic issues in the growing industry.

This year’s event will include the International Regulatory and Scientific Conference on 15-16 June, focusing on key issues in relation to the evolution of the industry’s scientific and regulatory landscape; as well as an Open Forum and International Symposium.

“The EU cosmetics Regulation is a model for the world, helping to ensure that personal care products meet the needs and expectations of consumers and that – above all – they are safe,” says John Chave, Director General of Cosmetics Europe.

“Let’s not forget there is much of which the EU can be proud. This year’s Cosmetics Week is a celebration of that, but it is also an opportunity to look into the future.”

The two day conference enables participants to attend scientific and regulatory breakout sessions led by experts on various topics such as alternatives to animal testing and dealing with chemicals in the absence of animal testing, plastic micro particles, CMR, e-commerce, product environmental footprint and ingredients safety.

Animal testing and digital focus

For the first time, the association will also be organising an exhibition and educational tour tackling main developments and areas relating to animal-free safety assessment, in partnership with SEURAT-1.

Given the increasing focus on the digital arena in the last few years, the programme will feature many discussions in a day long Forum and Symposium as well, on 14 June.

“It becomes a growing necessity for our industry to focus on new frontiers in personal care and look at global developments such as the evolution of digitalized markets, new product trends, sustainability and international cooperation in this rapidly changing world,” adds Chave.

“Many industry experts rely on events such as Cosmetics Week to stay informed”.

In total, the Cosmetics Europe week will welcome hundreds of delegates from 48 countries, from EU national cosmetics and personal care associations, global cosmetic manufacturers, media, companies, and international representatives from, amongst others, China, Australia, US, Latin America and Canada.
