Floratech, a botanically derived ingredient supplier, has launched a full ingredient disclosure system, which uses quick response (QR) codes.  

By simply scanning the QR code a formulator or brand manager has immediate access to inci names, product descriptions, efficacy claims, certificates of analysis, MSDS sheets and technical data sheets.

This service will be unveiled at In-cosmetics in Barcelona, April 17 -19, 2012. The relevant technology allows the user immediately see efficacy, claims and all pertinent data for every Floratech product.

Increases efficiency

Additionally, a quick scan of the QR code provides access to a rich menu of useful information about the raw material as well as full ingredient disclosure. Moreover, the information is available 24 hours a day.

QR codes are commonly used for marketing purposes, but that’s not Floratech’s intent.  Their motivation for using QR codes is to generate fast and efficient information delivery.

One significant fact is that no user information is collected, no contact information is required, and no tie-in to advertising or social media is generated.  Floratech simply provides crucial information within seconds of scanning the QR code.

Innovation with QR codes

The QR code is one of the most popular types of 2 matrix or two-dimensional bar codes. It was created in the early 1990’s to track the auto manufacturing process.

Recently, the popularity has increased for social media as with the QR codes brands can send entire product information to the user after scanning the code. The QR codes are used on websites, products, advertisement and communication material.

These QR codes give the consumer instant access to comprehensive information about product features and benefits.
