Rexam integrates mirror into lipstick case
Sliding Look, the company’s latest cosmetic launch was presented at last week’s Luxe Pack show in Monaco and features a large mirror that opens automatically when the cap is removed.

“The packaging is inspired by the idea that women reapply their makeup in any situation,” Rexam’s head of makeup Pauline Uhlen told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com.
The designers soon realised that the mirror integrated into the package had to be fairly large otherwise it would be frustrating to consumers trying to apply their lipstick, she added.
Opening partly when the cap of the lipstick is removed, the mirror is fully extended manually by the consumer and slides back into the cap when finished.
“In this way the mirror is protected form scratches and dirt as it is in the interior of the cap,” Uhlen said.
The package is also easily customisable, Uhlen said.
The top of the cap, referred to as the top plug, can be easily removed during the design process. According to Uhlen, this makes decorating or engraving the top plug and the rest of the package easier.
