This year’s BeautyEurasia event taking place on 17-19 June aims to promote trade in Turkey and the surrounding region.

According to the event organizers, Turkey, which is the world’s 16th largest economy, offers a significant domestic market and its geographically central position makes it a ‘natural production and marketing base’ in the region.

The 6th edition of the international event in Istanbul is expecting to attract over 20,000 visitors from 80 countries, particularly Turkey, Russia and the UAE.

According to the event organizers, exhibitors from over 40 countries including Italy, Germany and Spain will be showcasing their products, representing areas such as fragrance, raw materials and packaging.

New format for 2010

The 2010 edition of the show is benefiting from a partnership between Cosmoprof Bologna organizer SoGeCos and BeautyEurasia organiser Ipekyolu Exhibitions.

SoGeCos has worked on international marketing and sales, ensuring that companies interested in developing business opportunities in the Eurasia region could organise their participation easily, the organisers say.

At the time the agreement was announced, SoGeCos managing director, Aureliana De Sanctis, said: “Ipekyolu is an ideal partner for growing our business in the Eurasian region. We share a common view on the opportunities presented to us by the Eurasia region and are delighted to collaborate on the project.”

Potential of Eurasia region

According to the people behind BeautyEurasia, in 2008 Turkish imports of cosmetics and personal care products amounted to $1bn, while imports across the Eurasia region reached approximately $5bn.

The Eurasia region comprises the markets of Central Asia, Middle East and North Africa, as well as the Turkish, Balkans and Caucasian markets, which according to the organisers represents a potential target of almost 500 million people.

Recently, companies such as L’Oreal, Symrise and Firmenich have announced plans to look to this potentially lucrative market in order to boost sales.

More information about the event can be found on the BeautyEurasia website.
