The second edition of COSM’innov, an international conference on cosmetology research, is being held in Orléans, France on 30-31 March 2010

The conference is being organized as part of the events of industry association, Cosmetics Valley, and is expected to bring together 30 internationally renowned speakers, as well as attracting international conference goers.

During the conference, researchers will present their most recent findings in key areas of cosmetology research, including the use of new natural vegetable and marine substances, green chemistry, new methods of extraction and purification and the use of reconstructed skin.

Strong scientific programme

The first conference session, entitled Cosmetic Chemistry will include presentations that discuss topics such as advances in sustainable chemistry, and the potential of marine algae in improving skin health.

Physical Chemistry and Formulation, taking place on the afternoon of the first day, includes an overview of the formulation and characterization of nanostructured lipid materials for application in cosmetics.

Featuring speakers from Shiseido and L’Oreal, the second day of the conference kicks off with a session entitled Product-Tissue Interactions, with the first speaker, from AVR consulting in the UK, giving a presentation entitled The Epidermal Permeability Barrier.

Rounding off the two-day programme is a session examining the future trends in cosmetology, followed by a round table to discuss issues arising from the conference.

Cosm’innov Awards

A highlight of the event is the Cosmetic Innovation Awards, which are comprised of three categories; the ‘Best Poster’, ‘Best Innovation’ category, and ‘Young Researcher’ award.

The Best Poster category requires participants previously selected by the steering committee to present their research work in a poster format, with all selected abstract posters then being published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science.

The winner of each category, which will be announced during the awards dinner, will receive a prize of €1000.
