Cosmetic Valley showcases ten cosmetic R&D start-ups

French industry organisation Cosmetic Valley is promoting ten new start-up R&D companies at the forthcoming Research and Innovation expo in Paris.

Opening its doors June 3 – 5, the event will host the latest in research and innovation from a cross section of industries. Cosmetic Valley will help to showcase some of the latest companies to join fields such as dermo cosmetics, marine biotechnology, active ingredients and cosmotextiles.

Cosmetic Valley has been making significant moves to create a pocket of research and development capability for the personal care industry in the large geographic region it covers, spreading over a number of different French regions East of Paris.

Competitivity initiative

This has meant a total of 33 new innovation projects already launched under the organisation’s competitivity initiative, which was launched in 2005.

The ten companies will be platformed at Cosmetic Valley’s Pavillion, which is located at stand E17, at the Parc des Expositions, at Porte De Versailles.

The start ups include Biochemics – a specialist in determining the biochemical activity of materials used in personal care products, as well as Glycodiag – an operation specialising in the analyses of the molecular behaviour of formulations.

Catering to naturals

With the big rise in natural products, there are also two companies specialising in the analysis of natural ingredients, including Covalmar – which concentrates on determining the bioactive qualities of marine plant extracts, together with Phycosource – which specialises in testing micro algae extracts.

In the area of product testing, Tranderma Systems will be demonstrating its capabilities in biophysics, while Orion Concepts will be showing a number of new methods for conducting skin tests on a variety of cosmetic products.

Likewise, Labo C&T will show how the cosmetics industry is stretching its boundaries into new arenas by demonstrating how it is advancing the research and development of cosmotextiles.

The other companies include Greenpharma, which helps develop active ingredients and Sephra, which is also working in the area of molecular research.
