Interpolymer aims for wide audience with new opacifier
The company said formulators would be able to use Syntran 5907 in a variety of different personal care products including shampoos, bath and shower gels and liquid hand soaps.
The ingredient generates a “dense, creamy, uniform and bright appearance”, according to Interpolymer.
It achieves this visual effect at a concentrations of between 0.1 to 1 per cent, which the company said is a relatively low dosage level.
New skin conditioning polymer
Interpolymer presented the ingredient at In-Cosmetics in Munich this year where its new skin conditioning polymer Syntran PC 5500 was also on show.
The company said the cationic film former raised a lot of interest at the show and the availability of formulation samples at the stand helped demonstrate its sensual qualities and soft feel.
“In-Cosmetics was very successful for Interpolymer. We had a very good mix of existing customers and new potential customers at our stand and we made some great connections in a short time,” said Laetitia Marlier, category manager for consumer specialties.
As well as marketing new cosmetic ingredients Interpolymer has been busy expanding its manufacturing reach.
Production plant in China
Earlier this year the company started production at its new factory in Nanjing, China, and expects the site to become fully operational next month.
The new site will produce 40,000 metric tons of polymers and additives for the personal care, detergent, and ink and coatings markets.
The Asia Pacific region is a priority for Interpolymer and by having a production site in China the company will be able to respond faster to the local market, and in particular provide tailor-made polymers for individual Asian customers more easily.
