David and Victoria Beckham have launched their own his and her's
fragrances and cosmetics line, Intimately, as part a contract with
leading fragrance provider Coty that saw David Beckham launch his
Instinct fragrance last year.

One of the world's best recognized couples, the Beckhams signed the deal with Coty back in February 2005, when the company said that they were planning to make a series of launches using the Beckhams' image and name.

Former England soccer captain David Beckham put his name to a new fragrance, Instinct, which was launched in the run-up to the Christmas trading period last year. Evidently it sold 2000 bottles on the first morning of its launch.

Coty is hoping that the launch of the new cosmetics and fragrance line will attract the same sort of popularity, and with major retail outlets in the UK reporting that they already have significant waiting lists ahead of the launch, sales are expected to be brisk.

The line was launched at the superdrug outlet in Oxford Street, London, last week and is expected to be launched in the rest of the UK next month. It will then follow with a global roll out.

According to a fragrance source, Victoria Beckham spent a significant times familiarising herself with the production process and choosing the ingredients that have been used in the range - even visiting bottle and packaging factories in the process.

The Intimately Beckham for him fragrance is said to combine bergamot, grapefruit zest and cardamom to bring about to make the fragrance more lively, while violet, nutmeg and star anise are said to give it add spice and sandalwood, patchouli and amber bring warmth.

The fragrance comes as an Eau de Toilette as 30ml, 50ml and 75ml bottles, while toiletry lines include a hair and body wash, deodorant spray and a deodorant stick all ranging from £7 - £32.50 (£1 = €1.48).

Intimately Beckham for her fragrance is said to combine Casablanca Lily, tuberose, orange blossom, with layers of musk, vanilla and sandalwood to produce a perfume that is soft, feminine and floral.

The fragrance also comes in Eau de Toilette bottles of 30ml, 50ml and 75ml, backed up by a body lotion, shower cream and a deodorant spray that are expected to retail at £11 - £32.50.Last year, Coty completed the purchase of Unilever Cosmetics International, the global prestige fragrance business of Unilever, a deal that made it the world's largest fragrance player.

The move gave Coty access to key brands such as Calvin Klein and Chloe, increasing the prominence of the company on the international beauty market.

Other key international brands owned by Coty include Joop, Celine Dion, Adidas, Jennifer Lopez and Esprit. The company also signed up England football captain David Beckham and his pop star wife Victoria to promote perfume brands.
