Univar to demonstrate new formulation textures at MakeUp Paris
Univar says that it is using its first time exhibiting at the forthcoming MakeUp Paris event to demonstrate a rapidly emerging trend for specific textures in colour cosmetic products.

The US fine chemicals distributor is teaming up with chemicals giant Dow Corning on stand 301E, during the event, which is to be held in Paris next week, 12 – 13 June.

On its stand, the distributor will be demonstrating a range of formulations that have been based around a theme specially created for the event called “Sweety Pop-up”, designed to demonstrated some of the technologies that being used to tailor special textures.

First time to exhibit at MakeUp Paris

“This is our first time exhibiting at MakeUp in Paris and we are looking forward to creating a buzz with our candy-inspired selection of textures,”​ said Philippe Villequey, Industry Director, Univar Personal Care, EMEA.

“Textures have always been a strong focus for Univar Personal Care and our ambition is ‘mastering the art of textures’; it is a very important area of formulation that has a big impact on end consumers’ enjoyment of a product and where constant innovation is essential.”

Formulation that have been developed by the Univar and Dow Corning teams and being displayed at the event will include External Exotic Tattoo, which is said to be an extremely long-lasting, tattoo-effect eye shadow that might remind visitors of the way sweets or chewing gum colour the tongue.

This particular formulation has been developed using Down Corning MQ – 1640 Flake Resin, which blends silicone resins to provide a durable film on the skin, with wash-off and transfer resistance.

Texture, colour and luxury

The booth will also by highlighting two Pink Wizards formulation, which have been developed as a colour cosmetics concept that replicates ‘silky sweets’. In particular, one of the formulations is a silicone-based product that complies with China testing regulations as a silky wax that ‘melts’ when applied to the skin.

Finally, the demonstrations will also include Coloured Trampoline, which has been developed using Aculyn 28 to produce a ludic BB jelly-cream, with a ‘bouncy marshmellow-like’ effect that is said to be heightened with the addition EL-9240 Silicone Elastomer blend to give a more luxurious feel.

Dow Corning will also be delivery a lecture at the event on silicone solutions for facial, lip and eye make-up, which will be given by Marilena Moré, who will also be looking at the important part that textures play in such formulations.
