French biotech active ingredients company Solabia Group, which specialises in the health and beauty sector, is set to buy the Swiss cosmetics ingredients company Mibelle Biochemistry from current owner Persán, which had purchased the business in April 2025.

Solabia said the acquisition will strengthen its leadership in natural active ingredients and that the two businesses offer complementary technologies and product strengths, particularly in natural and bio‑based actives.

The transaction is expected to close in the coming months. The financial terms were not disclosed, but Mibelle Biochemistry’s 50+ employees will continue to work under the new ownership of Solabia.

Strategic acquisition strengthens Solabia’s natural actives portfolio

Solabia Group currently operates 11 manufacturing sites and eight R&D labs worldwide and employs more than 900 people. The group has a global presence and manufactures natural active ingredients for the cosmetics, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and microbiology industries. It also produces culture media, supplements and detection kits for food testing, the pharmaceutical industry and microbiology laboratories.

Chief Executive Officer of Solabia, Jean Baptiste Dellon, said the firm was eager to welcome Mibelle Biochemistry’s expert teams to Solabia. “Mibelle Biochemistry is a company we have long admired for its scientific rigor, innovative spirit, and pioneering work,” he said. “Together, we will accelerate innovation, expand our global reach, and deliver even stronger value to a larger customer base seeking differentiated, science backed solutions for beauty and wellbeing.”

Meanwhile Head of Mibelle Biochemistry, Cornelia Schürch, believes that joining Solabia marks an exciting next chapter for the company. “We are gaining a strong, highly aligned partner who understands our markets and shares our passion for scientific excellence,” said Schürch.
