More beauty and personal care brands are partnering with licensed brands for new product launches, and one current trend is to collaborate with retro kids’ shows. We look at some of the launches in this space.

From Paddington Bear to The Smurfs, more cosmetics brands are harnessing shopper’s penchant for nostalgia and celebrating TV shows from days gone by. Here’s some of the clever collabs we’ve seen launch in the past month.

Fenty Beauty’s Smurfs Collaboration: Colour Meets Character

Rihanna’s beauty brand unveiled its limited-edition collection based on the Smurfette character from The Smurfs franchise, which was created to align with the singer’s performance as the voice of Smurfette in the new Smurfs film.

“Smurfette has always stood out to me in her own bold and beautiful way,” Rihanna said in a statement about the new launch.

The Smurf Crew Collection will sell exclusively on FentyBeauty.com and Selfridges.com and includes colour cosmetics, skin care and accessories with new product shades, themed packaging and design elements inspired by the cartoon.

Hero products include Smurfette Smooches Lip Essentials Duo, which includes a new lavender shade of Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Smurfette Effect, and Fenty Treatz Lip Oil in Smurfberry – a red-tinted, scented formula.

There’s also a Gloss Bomb in Smurfette Effect and Fenty Icon Velvet Liquid Lipstick in Smurf’Melon – a watermelon-red in a whipped matte formula and a Butta Drop Mini Body Cream in Smurfberry, as well as a collectible disco ball keychain.

Dr.PAWPAW’s Sweet Lip Balm Tribute to Paddington Bear

The British skin care brand partnered with StudioCanal Kids & Family for a new lip care range, which features the multi-award-winning Original Balm.

The lip balms are inspired by Paddington’s favourite sweet treats – in Hot Chocolate, Orange Marmalade and Strawberry Jam flavours.

Founders of Dr.PAWPAW, Johnny and Pauline Paterson explained that after the brand’s recent success with collaborations, with both the Wicked franchise and Percy Pig sweets, they had been “looking out for the next hot property” and then “jumped at the chance” to work with Britain’s favourite bear.

Wild’s Limited-Edition Deodorant Inspired by Paddington

Refillable body care brand Wild has also teamed up with Paddington Bear for its new Orange Marmalade scented deodorants.

The new scent has been launched alongside a limited-edition deodorant case, which features a picture of the iconic bear.

P.Louise’s Breakfast Club Collection: Retro Scented Skin care

Social selling sensation P.Louise has expanded its makeup and skin care line with brand new products in its ‘Breakfast Club Collection’, which is inspired by the scents of retro breakfast dishes: French Toast, Fruit & Loopy and Cereal Milk.

The range features syrupy scents, buttery textures, and packaging based around retro cereal adverts. The product lineup includes Butter Me Up Lipstick Palettes; Daily Dusting Rice Powder Cleanser; Dose of Dreams Vitamin C Serum; Slay the Clay Mask Stick; French Toast, Fruit & Loopy and Cereal Milk.

Mad Beauty’s Magical Harry Potter Gift Range

In the autumn, the British beauty brand Mad Beauty is launching a Harry Potter-inspired beauty gift collection, which was created in partnership with Warner Bros and includes bath, body, and skin care products and accessories.

The range will feature Golden Snitch Lip Balm Duo, Nimbus 2000 Make-Up Brush, and Wand Lip Balm and will be brought to life through custom 3D tooling and collectable packaging.
