Kao, which owns brands such as Molton Brown, John Frieda and Goldwell has invested millions of Pounds to upgrade its UK manufacturing site at Green Street, Hertfordshire – the official home of fragrance and body care brand Molton Brown.
The upgrade includes advanced new mixing technology and a full refurbishment of the office and R&D spaces. The new site itself features state-of-the-art sealed, self-cleaning mixing vessels to improve efficiency, product quality, and operator safety.
Future-proofing manufacturing capabilities
Director of UK production Juan Gonzalez explained that investing in Green Street reflects the businesses ambition to future-proof its manufacturing capabilities and reinforce its presence in the region.
“By modernising this facility, we are positioning ourselves for long-term growth and ensuring we can meet evolving customer and market demands,” he said.
He also said the updates will increase the site’s capabilities and flexibility, improve energy efficiency, and ensure it is technologically advanced and prepared to meet future demands.
“Key improvements include the introduction of state-of-the-art product mixing technology, updated infrastructure to reduce energy consumption and emissions, and a complete redesign and refurbishment of all our employee areas – offices, collaborative working spaces, and relaxation areas – to support wellbeing and safety,” he shared.
Kao said it is also exploring the potential to expand production at the sites of other brands including hair care brand John Frieda and self-tan brand Bondi Sands.
