As technology becomes more important in the beauty industry, we explore some of the new innovations from cosmetics companies at the Paris-based show.

The Viva Technology 2025 trade show ran this week at Paris’ Expo Porte de Versailles and there has been plenty of presence from cosmetics businesses. We explore some of the beauty-based launches at the show...

AI-designed perfume collab

French natural cosmetics ingredients company Robertet has teamed up with AI tech firm Artefact for a fragrance collaboration: Essence of AI.

Together, the two companies developed NaturIA, an AI-powered tool “capable of translating a brand’s visual and narrative identity into a unique olfactory signature.”

CEO of Robertet Jérôme Bruhat noted that the project “illustrates how artificial intelligence can stimulate our creativity through technological innovation, while respecting the freedom and know-how of our designers.”

Microcurrent tech for beauty

South Korean-based BarunBio showcased its patented WE-STIM™ technology – a battery-free microcurrent technology that can be integrated into clothes and skin care.

Neuro-olfactive fragrance

French neuro-olfactive scent brand AMOI is able to offer emotion-boosting perfumes with proven efficacy by an independent neuro lab.

AI-generated product imagery

At the show, French beauty multinational L’Oréal announced various launches and partnerships. One of these announcements was that it plans to use Omi’s PhotoDrop tool, which converts physical products into 3D digital twins to create the brand imagery.

According to the Paris-bases tech firm Omi, the technology is already being used by companies such as Clarins and Nestlé.

Its PhotoDrop feature allows brands to upload or generate their own background images and drop in, scale, or reposition 3D product models.

Hyper-personalised skin assessment & makeup try-on

Beauty tech company Perfect Corp showcased Virtual AI Agent, its new HD skin analysis and makeup consultation, which integrates advanced AI solutions to deliver hyper-personalisation. The tech gives more comprehensive skin type, skin concern, skin shade and facial shape assessments, along with virtual makeup try-on, through either full makeup transfer or a step-by-step mix-and-match application.

The Taiwan-based company also showed HD Skin Analysis with 3D Face Support, which is an upgraded product that addresses the challenge of inaccurate or incomplete skin assessments. The tech incorporates HD analysis, regional zoom-in analysis, and advanced 3D face 180-degree skin analysis to give more precise assessments from different angles.

Biometric connected beauty

French beauty tech startup Beauté INÉE’s innovation uses a biometric connected card, AI and dermo-cosmetic expertise to personalise and customise recommendations and routines.

“AI beauty matchmaker”

At the show, L’Oréal also announced its partnership with US multinational NVIDIA to create and implement Noli “an AI-powered multi-brand beauty marketplace founded by L’Oréal.”

The French beauty firm said that the newly launched Noli.com AI Refinery, which was developed with NVIDIA and Accenture and hosted on Microsoft Azure, “allows for rapid experimentation, scalable personalisation, and responsible AI deployment.”

The product finder and recommendation system uses more than one million skin data points and thousands of cosmetic formulations, to act as an ‘AI beauty matchmaker’. The firm said it “decodes user’s unique beauty profile to recommend tailored products, delivered directly to their doorstep.”

Co-founder & CEO of Noli, Amos Susskind said of the innovation: “Beauty is full of choice, opinions, claims, noise, and emotional stakes, making it the perfect category for personalisation and expert guidance.”
