At NYSCC Suppliers’ Day 2025, the Inspiration Hive showcased 20 standout ingredients selected for their potential to shape the future of cosmetics and personal care product development. Curated by the trend platform Beautystreams, the exhibit highlighted advances in green chemistry, AI-enabled discovery and next-generation actives that align with evolving market demands.

“We’re incredibly excited to sponsor the Inspiration Hive at NYSCC Suppliers’ Day 2025, a dynamic space dedicated to sparking creativity, connection, and forward-thinking innovation across the beauty and personal care industry,” Eleonora Mazzilli, trend localization and business development director, North America at Beautystreams, told CosmeticsDesign US.

“This year’s Inspiration Hive is designed to be a launchpad for discovery and innovation,” she added. “From cleaner functional ingredients and cutting-edge slow-aging actives to AI-discovered compounds that are redefining what’s possible in formulation science, the Hive offers a glimpse into the future of product innovation.”

Here are CosmeticsDesign US’s top six picks for standout innovations from this year’s Inspiration Hive exhibit:

Lubrizol: Carbopol BioSense polymer

A naturally derived rheology modifier and sensory enhancer, Carbopol BioSense is designed to be used in serum, lotion, light cream and even sun care products. According to Lubrizol, the polymer, which was developed in partnership with pulp producer Suzano and launched earlier this year, offers “a comparable sensory [experience] to silicone elsastomers, providing rich and softer sensory in the after-feel.”

The ingredient is also sustainably formulated, readily biodegradable, and sustainably sourced, with production conducted through a low-impact process.

Expanscience Laboratories: Soline Bio

Derived from upcycled sunflower oilcake, Soline Bio is a sustainably sourced active that supports lipid barrier function and hydration. Derived through molecular distillation, which is a green process that does not require solvent, Soline Bio is also COSMOS certified.

According to Expanscience Laboratories, the company has conducted in vitro studies that demonstrate the ingredient’s efficacy in enhancing skin softness and comfort, aligning with consumer interest in natural-origin ingredients that offer proven benefits.

LBB Specialties: EcoPep Skin

EcoPep Skin is a plant-based peptide complex designed to improve firmness and smoothness visibly.

As explained by LBB specialties, “EcoPep for Skin is a next-generation cosmetic peptide developed through advanced, low-waste biotechnology by our trusted principal partner, Oat Cosmetics.”

The ingredient offers a sustainable alternative to traditional peptides and is positioned for use in anti-aging and skin resilience formulations.

Seppic: Sagacious

Sagacious is a biomimetic active inspired by autophagy processes in the skin. The ingredient targets multiple signs of skin aging, including firmness and luminosity, with a mode of action that supports cell detoxification.

Seppic positions it as part of the “slow aging” trend gaining traction in global markets.

Hallstar: UBI Oléoactif

UBI Oléoactif combines ubiquinone (coenzyme Q10) with botanical oils using Hallstar’s patented Oléo-éco-extraction process. As showcased in the exhibit, this lipid-soluble antioxidant complex is formulated for high stability and enhanced skin delivery, addressing oxidative stress and environmental skin damage.

According to Hallestar, “UBI Oléoactif combines the benefits of a co-product of birch bark with rapeseed oil, both sourced responsibly, organically, and from Europe.”

Croda Beauty: KeraBio K31

KeraBio K31 is a biomimetic keratin peptide engineered to mimic human hair proteins. The ingredient is designed to repair and reinforce hair fibers from within, providing performance benefits for hair care formulations that target strength, shine, and manageability.

According to Croda Beauty, KeraBio K31 is formulated to “deliver a vegan keratin recharge at the molecular level,” and provides “100% stronger hair compared to the leading commercial bond builder.”
