TikTok is a favourite social media channel for many beauty shoppers to discover the latest looks. Here are five trending topics that cosmetics brands and beauty fans will want to know about...
Ice cream nails
The delicious-sounding ‘ice cream manicure’ is the latest super-wearable nail trend that’s been taking over TikTok and beyond.
The look, which is a more polished ‘step up’ from neutral shades that have been ruling over the past year, is still wearable enough to suit all occasions, and across all age groups.

Butter yellow makeup
Continuing with the foodie references, butter yellow makeup is the ultimate look for spring 2025 and is likely to carry on all through the summer months too.
Browsing through TikTok, most beauty fans are wearing it on their eyes and lips, but some are also using yellow powder highlighters and lip shades too.

Butterscotch blonde (AKA ‘hair bronzing’, pecan blonde or Biscoff blonde)
Whatever you want to call it, this darker, richer and more natural-looking shade is gaining a following on social media.
It all started with the ‘recession blonde’ trend of showing off ombre-style darker roots and lighter ends and has now progressed into an all-over darker blonde colour that’s more wearable and less upkeep than bleached blonde locks.
This week, Gen Z influencer and model Bella Hadid turned up at the Cannes Film Festival with this trending hue, which will no doubt continue to raise its profile as a hair colour trend for spring and summer.

Unapproachable makeup
This trend has racked up over 91m views and is still counting…
The unapproachable looks, designed to give off a “don’t talk to me” vibe, range from dramatically sexy cat-eye makeup to unexpected colour contrasts and eccentric bleached brows.
There has also been a trend of some content creators creating an ‘approachable’ look on one side of their face and an ‘unapproachable’ look on the other side to demonstrate the difference.

The ‘Morning Shed’
Although it’s tricky to know if this is a trend or a comedy sketch, the morning shed refers to the ceremonial shedding of extravagant night-time beauty rituals, such as applying various lotions and potions to skin and hair to reap the benefits as you sleep.
While K-beauty-style seven-step routines are nothing new, TikTok creators have taken it to the limits and incorporated multiple new steps and sensory experiences, such as mouth tape and chin straps.
