Take a look at 7 of the makeup looks expected to trend in 2025...
Black-rimmed eyes
Eye makeup is going back to the mid-2000s, paying homage to the rock star-inspired eye makeup of Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne and Christina Aguilera.
Since singer Billie Eilish stepped out liquid liner-rimmed eyes, liquid eyeliner and smudged kohl are making a comeback among Gen-Zers.

Berry blush (and perfume)
According to trends analysis company Spate, food-inspired beauty is gaining traction and berries, in particular, are having a moment.
Its latest popularity index showed that the fastest-growing berry beauty trends right now are Raspberry Perfume and Berry Blush.
Berry blush has grown by +96.3% compared to last year, gaining traction across platforms. The trends firm said: “TikTok is leading the charge, holding a 76% popularity share, with the trend receiving an average of 471.9K weekly views.”
Products dominating Google Search queries include Milani berry amore blush, Elf berry well blush, and Revlon matte powder blush blushing berry.
Spate goes as far as suggesting that colour cosmetics brands with a berry blush product SKU “consider updating the product copy, renaming the product, or releasing social content showcasing how to use berry blush.”
The firm also said that raspberry perfume is an emerging trend, up by +363.6% compared to last year, and across platforms. Google Search owns this trend, holding a 72.2% popularity share.

Cherry red lips, cheeks & nails
Continuing on the juicy topic of fruit, the social media platform Pinterest has noted that searches for the term ‘Dark cherry red’ is up by 235%, while ‘cherry vibe’ is up 325%.
“Gen Z and Millennials will infuse cherries into their make-up and mood boards this year” said the social media platform, noting that in 2025, “tart will have your heart.”

New-wave eye makeup
Pinterest has also predicted Aura Beauty (multi-coloured, 80s-inspired, New Wave-style eye makeup) will trend this year, calling the look “a makeup mood ring.”
The social media platform noted that searches for New Wave makeup were up by 410%.
“Gen Z and Boomers are driving this high hue look that’s all about zeroing in on a colour aesthetic and flaunting it from chin to cheek,” it said.

Beauty collectibles
According to senior marketing director for colour cosmetics at Oriflame, Lydia Smeds, collectible cosmetics are big news for 2025.
“At Oriflame we plan to release limited-edition products and collections which align with our image, tapping into the growing appeal of collectables,” she shared.
“Gen Z and Gen Alpha are expected to enthusiastically embrace this trend, while Millennials will appreciate the opportunity to unleash their inner child and enjoy a wave of nostalgia.”
Duck-shaped nails
In its annual trends report for 2025, the beauty company Beauty Pie has flagged ‘Duck shaped nails’ as a trend this year and noted that searches for this term were up by +463%
While coffin-shaped nails were big in 2024, duck-shaped nails are set to take over in 2025.
“Recently returning to prominence after being popular in the early 2000s, the nail shape is wide and fanned out, similar to how a duck’s webbed foot would look,” the brand explained.
The wider nails offer more space for extravagant nail designs.

Sunset blush
Beauty Pie also touted Sunset Blush to be a trend for 2025, noting that searches are up by +422%.
“Unlike other blush trends that focus on a natural flush of colour, this one is a more playful look, blending a few tones. Mimicking the hues of a sunset with pinks, oranges and reds,” it said. Dubbing it “the perfect trend to try for summer 2025”
