Jean Paul Gaultier launches new travel-retail campaign

Spanish cosmetics company Puig is marking the launch of Jean Paul Gaultier’s latest fragrance, Gaultier Divine Eau de Parfum, with a series of animations running until late October across key airports in Europe.

It is estimated the global campaign will reach over four million travellers in September.

As part of the launch, a huge programme is taking place at Paris Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports in partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail.

Gaultier Divine Eau de Parfum is starring in 10 animation spaces, with the highlight being a ‘Jean Paul Gaultier Museum’ pop-up at Paris Charles de Gaulle’s Terminal 1.

Shoppers can discover the new scent via meringue tasting, take a photo in the corset selfie photobooth and receive a silk scarf gift-with-purchase.

There will be activations at airports in London, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Brussels and Malaga.

Puig is also partnering with Uber to target passengers travelling to Paris Charles de Gaulle and London Heathrow airports.

It will also collaborate with a crew of influencers in Europe to create travel-themed content and will host an event on the River Nile in Egypt.

H&M partners with makeup artist Raoúl Alejandre

H&M Beauty has teamed up with renowned makeup artist, Raoúl Alejandre for a long-term collaboration to promote its cosmetics range.

Alejandre said of the partnership: “I feel honoured and excited to be able to bring my point of view to this partnership. I’m ready to bring innovative and exclusive techniques to this collaboration.”

TFWA is on the horizon

The global summit for duty free and travel retail TFWA will be held in the French coastal city of Cannes between Sunday 1st October until Thursday 5th​ October.

Beauty brands from across the globe – including Coty, Estée Lauder Companies, Clarins, L’Oréal and LVMH Beauty – are set to gather at the Palais de Festivals venue to exhibit their products and discover more about the future of the global travel-retail industry.

L’Oréal Group appoints new General Manager Travel Retail Worldwide

The French multinational has made several changes to its executive committee.

As of February 2024, its General Manager Travel Retail Worldwide Vincent Boinay will become President of the North Asia Zone and CEO of L’Oréal China.

Emmanuel Goulin will take over Boinay’s role to lead the travel retail division as President at the start of 2024.

Boots delays plans to launch a marketplace

The British beauty and health retailer had originally planned to launch Boots Marketplace in spring 2023, but this has apparently been paused.  

When it originally revealed the plans in September 2022, the retailer had said would be able to work with “hundreds” of new suppliers, as the marketplace would allow third-party brands to list products on its website, Boots.com.

Glossier launches into Sephora UK

In its first UK retail partnership, Glossier has teamed up with Sephora.

UK consumers can now buy the brand's products at the Westfield Shepherd’s Bush store and on Sephora UK’s website and app.

Glossier's CEO Kyle Leahy said: “With the UK being Glossier’s second biggest market, this Sephora partnership and first-ever wholesale retail relationship in the UK is the perfect progression for us”.
