Symrise Cosmetic Ingredients are to team up with evoxx technologies in a partnership intent on focusing on creating sustainable cosmetic ingredients.

The deal specifically looks at developing the biotechnological processes for these ingredients, where evoxx will contribute its enzymes and probiotic manufacturing knowhow.

“By uniting our competencies, we will jointly advance natural, and green solutions. It will accelerate the ability to address the desires of customers and consumers for high performing and yet sustainable products,” says Dr Michael Puls, Managing Director at evoxx.

“The partnership with evoxx technologies represents a significant step towards further developing our biotech platform,” adds Dr Jörn Andreas, President Cosmetic Ingredients at Symrise.

“It helps accomplish our strategic goal to continuously expand our portfolio of sustainable cosmetic ingredients.”

Sustainable alternatives

Further details of the agreement will see Symrise work with evoxx to co-develop processes and ingredients for customers that want to integrate clean and sustainable alternatives into their cosmetic formulas.

The collaboration looks to include evoxx’s knowhow in the development and production of industrial enzymes and biocatalytic processes.

The collaboration with evoxx is the latest in efforts by Symrise to bolster its presence in the nutrition and cosmetic industries.

SymProBiome

In Oct 2021, the fragrance and flavours house launched a microbiome-based platform that mines data from the body’s key microbiome communities.

The SymProBiome identifies the microorganisms that reside in and on key areas including skin, oral cavity, gut, scalp and underarm and how an imbalance of these community populations can lead to health complaints.

Meanwhile, evoxx technologies, which are based in Monheim am Rhein and Potsdam, were bought out by biotech firm Advanced Enzymes back in 2017, in a move designed to boost India-based Advanced Enzymes’ foothold in Germany and in Europe.
