Avon enlists HCL Technologies to develop digital transformation strategy
Leading direct seller of beauty items, Avon Products, appoints technology company, HCL Technologies, as the company’s infrastructure services partner.

The collaboration forms the next stage of Avon’s Open Up digital transformation strategy that will see the beauty company advance its efforts to improve efficiencies and enable growth opportunities in the future.

Evolving digitally

By teaming up, HCL technologies will support Avon with reconstructing its IT infrastructure services and support systems in a bid to create new and overhauled service management activities.

Avon will look to achieve greater quality, scope and efficiency across its operations, including its security, data centres, service desk, network and end-user computing services.

Through understanding and adopting innovative and transformative service-management tools, HCL Technologies and Avon will seek to create a more robust, effective and agile collection of service delivery solutions.

As it progresses towards realising its digital transformation plans, Avon also foresees HCL Technologies assisting the business with cost savings to enable it to inject these freed resources into digital investments. The approach also hopes to support Avon elevate its current service levels and provide additional capabilities for the brand's global representatives.

Open up strategy

"This is a significant move forward in our 'Open Up Avon' strategy, through which we are resetting and digitising the Avon business to fuel future growth,” enthuses Benedetto Conversano, Avon Senior Vice President, Chief Digital and Information Technology Officer.

“We look forward to seeing the positive change that HCL will drive for our business as we identify new ways of working, enhance speed and agility, and inject new capabilities within our digital initiatives. This is critical as we improve support for our millions of Avon Representatives," Conversano adds.

Focusing on digital transformation, HCL Technologies, adopts a three-stage process to support businesses revolutionising their services and operations:

1. Centring on helping the brands become lean and agile, the first stage comprises applications, infrastructure, business process outsourcing (BPO), engineering and R&D services.

2. Exploring experience-centric and outcome-oriented integrated provisions of digital and analytics, Internet of Things (IoTs), cloud services and cybersecurity to enable digitisation.

3. Based on the ecosystem, the third area revolves around creating innovative IP-based partnerships to build products and platform-based businesses.

Vijay Verma, Executive Vice President at HCL Technologies, explained: "Our partnership with Avon embodies HCL's Mode 1-2-3 vision and will drive automation, cloud, standardisation and service elevation to deliver business outcomes and best-in-class end-user experiences, while laying the foundation for next gen services and digital transformation."

Following the news of the partnership, the company’s digital transformation initiative may stretch to all areas of the brand’s campaigns and commitments, including its #stand4her initiative.  Avon recently announced the successful grant winners of its 2019 scholarship.
