Since 2014, Liht Cannabis has been investing strategically to position itself as a competitor in the medical cannabis and adult recreational use industries. Next week, the company will launch its newly rebranded skin care and body care products under the name PureCloud 9.

The Canadian company got its start in 2007 and was known as Marapharm Ventures Inc. until late 2018. All along, the company now known as Liht Cannabis Corp has been investing in farmable land and real estate suited for industrial-scale processing, and looking ahead to a time when the regulatory climate in Canada, the US (and perhaps even farther afield) is right for such a venture.

Liht Cannabis owns land for cultivation in Celista, British Colombia (where construction is underway); for both cultivation and processing in Las Vegas, Nevada, (where the State has approved 2 buildings for operations), and in California; and for processing in Washington State.

First beauty

When the company was still known as Maragold, they sold 3 CBD personal care products at the company’s own retail dispensary in Desert Hot Springs, California. Those first beauty products were an after-sun oil, a body oil, and a facial serum.

Now Liht Cannabis has rebranded the personal care business as PureCloud 9 and reformulated and augmented the product portfolio, and will debut the new collection online Wednesday 13 February. The new portfolio comprises an lluminating Body Oil, a Restorative Rescue Oil, a Glow-Boosting Day Serum, a Rejuvenating Night Serum, a Radiance-Enhancing Facial Exfoliator, and an Illuminating Body Exfoliator.

New beauty

The PureCloud 9 collection is formulated with hemp seed oil and does not include CBD. According to a media release announcing the relaunch, “following four years of research, formulation, development, and product testing, we [at Liht Cannabis] are satisfied with the intensive transformation we have undergone to provide the cleanest, most trustworthy hemp products available.”

And the release goes on to note that, “hemp oil contains anti-oxidants, carotene, phyto-sterols, phospholipids, as well as a number of minerals including calcium, magnesium, sulphur, potassium, iron, zinc. Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, C, D, and E.”

CBD beauty

Many of the larger, investor-driven ventures in or adjacent to the CBD beauty space are, like Liht Cannabis, on a path towards the medical industry.

Khiron Life Sciences (also a Canadian company), for instance, makes and sells personal care products for the Latin American market. Khiron does business in Colombia, Peru, and beyond thanks to an ecommerce partnership.

And, last summer Aurora Cannabis made a strategic investment in the Evio Beauty Group with the intention of the development and sale of cosmetics and personal care products formulated with hemp seed oil as well as with CBD. Read more here on Cosmetics Design.
