Indie founder and influencer Africa Miranda has an impressive social following (47K on IG); she blogs, she acts, and she is about to embark on a nationwide book tour. Her work takes her not only across the US, but around the world as well. And she’s telling a story of travel through beauty too, with skin care products inspired by her favorite destinations.

Influencers are adept communicators, living in nearly constant conversation with people worldwide about the mundane, the fabulous, and everything in between. And storytelling sell; it sells products to consumers, it sells ingredients to product developers, it sells packaging to brands, it sells brands to media.

Beauty by Africa Miranda launched in November of 2016. The brand comprises three products; and Africa Miranda is adding a forth (which she was showing at IBE NY 2018) later this year. The product portfolio defines Beauty by Africa Miranda as a skin care – forward, functional fragrance brand.

“I like to call my products ‘beauty souveniers’,” Miranda tells Cosmetics Design editor Deanna Utroske in a video interview filmed at this year’s Indie Beauty Expo in New York City. “It’s not here to replace your entire skin care line,” she explains, but rather each product is evocative of a contemporary destination and meant as an experience.

“My Luminous Body Mist is inspired by my time in the South of France and it really is that moment,” says Miranda.
