Applying perfume: ‘reinvention’

Aptar suggests it has gone as far as ‘reinventing the art of applying perfume’ with its ‘Codex of Gestuelles’.

This is an attempt at a comprehensive record of words from across the world that are used in relation to the practice of applying perfume, from the everyday to the more glamorous examples - ‘frag-clouding’, ‘frescanising’ and ‘swaporizing’, for example.

This glamorous, offbeat glossary beautifully enhances the art of applying perfume through poetic neologisms that offer an intelligent, sometimes mischievous description of the ways in which we feel and experience perfume​,” says the company.

A ‘perfume pen’

Based on the idea that application methods need to keep pushing the boundaries of sensory, personal and interactive experience, Aptar offers the market its Fragrance Master concept.

This concept, a ‘perfume pen’ allows users to apply fragrance as a handwritten message across the skin.

The application is quick, controlled and highly sensory, and the object travel-friendly, innovative and precise: perfect for application to pulse points, to which it is recommended to add fragrance to create a lingering trail​,” says Aptar.

The concept is built on the following key features:

  • Specific applicator options: quill, drop, brush, etc.

  • A wide choice of customised features for the design.

  • A practical format, a discreet application method.

Booster cartridges to allow for better personalisation of formulae

In response to rising demand from skin care players for packaging that facilitates better options for offering personalisable formulation options, Aptar has introduced Neomix:

  • An elegant duo packaging with an 80-20 formula ratio (240μl + 70μl) for skincare and a 70-30 (150μl + 70μl) for make-up.

  • An independent cartridge for endless formula combinations.

  • An intelligent pump to dispense a fresh formula and mix it at the last minute.

  • No formula residue left in the pump. • A technological platform enabling a customised design
