Sederma facility extension in France
Sederma, a high-performance ingredients and technologies company, has announced a EUR 10 million investment into its facility in Le Perray en Yveline, France.

The company, part of Croda International Plc., states that its investment is set to expand Sederma’s production and innovation capacity, and further consolidate the company’s profile on the beauty active ingredients scene.

Arnaud Fournial, Managing Director, explained that the move is a testament to the company’s aim of being a world leader when it comes to beauty actives.

“This expansion confirms our ambition to retain Sederma’s leadership as the premium provider of cosmetic ingredients for the personal care market. We will continue to offer superior innovation and technical support to our customers,” he said. “This is an exciting period for everyone associated with Sederma and we look forward to further success in the future."

Quality products and sustainable manufacture

Sederma says that a major area of consideration for the company is securing product quality, as such, it notes that the new facilities will comply with the cosmetics ingredient Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

It also states that the expansion will actually reduce Sederma’s impact on the environment, with a relative reduction in energy and water consumption, alongside a decrease in waste and a push on recycling.

Olga Gracioso, Sederma’s Marketing Director, spoke of the reinforcement of existing facilities and introduction of new technology.

The interest of the industry in safe and heavily substantiated plant cell culture products continues to grow at a sustained pace. This investment constitutes a robust foundation in developing the next generation of these innovative products,” she said.

The company will continue is production of actives targeting the skin care, body care, sun care, hair care and men’s care segments, focused on techniques within biotechnology, fine chemistry, plant cell culture and vegetal extraction. It has been a member of the Croda International Group since 1997.
