Shiseido bulks up its cyber security
The skin care and makeup leader has chosen the Centrify Identity Service to provide secure access to multiple applications used by its employees globally, including Box (for internal communications) and SharePoint (for collaborative working).
The service means that the company’s 30,000-strong workforce across the world will be able to access Shiseido's systems with single sign-on (SSO), the idea being that this makes it more accessible and user-friendly for employees to connect.
The move suggests Shiseido is taking steps to keep its systems up-to-date and relevant as it looks to continue its global Vision 2020 growth strategy.
Safer, smoother
According to Centrify, its system will allow Shiseido to maximise the current digital infrastructure the brand currently has in place globally for its internal operations.
“Shiseido turned to Centrify because it needed a modern authentication infrastructure that could support the company’s new cloud initiative,” Centrify says.
“To enhance global collaboration and IT infrastructure, Shiseido is implementing a variety of cloud-based applications, including online file sharing and content management services. But,” the security firm explains, “the company’s existing environment would have forced users to set up individual IDs and passwords for each cloud application they accessed.”
Employees having multiple passwords and usernames to access Shiseido accounts slows things down and poses a security risk, according to the cyber firm, and the beauty brand chose Centrify to offer a remodelled sign-on system.
Seamless access
According to Centrify, the new system will particularly improve the working lives of employees.
“With Centrify Identity Service, global administrators can focus on keeping access current and accurate without having to deal with rushed requests for individual credentials for every user and application,” said Kiminori Kimura, Manager, Digital Innovation Group, Shiseido Company, Ltd.
“For employees worldwide, the seamless access to application means they don’t have to worry about authentication, thus greatly improving their productivity and utilisation of those apps.”
