Univar expands personal care footprint in Europe

Univar has announced the opening of a new technical facility together with a new distribution agreement for its personal care operations in Europe.

The company has just confirmed the opening of a technical excellence center in Versailles, Paris, while it has also sealed a deal with Dow for the distribution of personal care ingredients in Central and Eastern Europe.

US-based Univar is a global distributor of specialty and basic chemicals, and is currently focusing on expanding its footprint in the personal care market throughout the Europe, Africa and Middle East region.

The technical centre

The new technical centre has been designed to support these ambitions and is a part of the ISIPCA campus, a leading institution for post-graduate studies in perfurm, cosmetics and food ingredients.

"We are delighted to expand our presence and capabilities in the market with a new technical center strategically located at the center of personal care innovation on the ISIPCA campus,” said Matthew Ottaway, Industry Director, Personal Care, Univar EMEA.

“The technical center will play a major role in helping our customers to meet the requirements of the highly dynamic premium cosmetics and personal care market across the region.”

The facility will be specifically focused on providing support to product developers in the hair care, skin care, sun care and personal hygiene categories.

Dow Distribution agreement

Coinciding with the new technical centre, the company has also confirmed that it has expanded its long-standing distribution agreement with the Dow Chemical company.

This means that it will now distribute Dow personal care ingredients Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.

The agreement means that from the beginning of July Univar will now market and sell the full range of Dow’s legacy personal care special ingredients in all of these Eastern and Central European markets.

“Dow’s innovative personal care ingredients are a strong complement to our existing portfolio of basic chemicals and speciality products and will help us to further our total solution approach to personal care and meet the ever-changing consumer and market demands,” said Matthew Ottaway, Personal Care Industry Director Europe, Middle-East, Africa, Univar.
