The Estée Lauder Companies has announced a number of leadership appointments and changes, including Peter Jueptner taking the reins as President, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), with the target of growing the cosmetics firm’s business further.

Jueptner is replacing Ivan Fernandez in the role, as the latter announced plans to retire from his position, effective August 31, 2016. Jueptner will report to Cedric Prouvé, Group President, International.

Peter previously served as Executive Vice President, Strategy, New Business Development and Transformation Initiatives, working alongside company CEO Fabrizio Freda in the development and execution of the Company’s strategy, which has delivered record results including consistent top-line growth ahead of the prestige beauty industry.

Estée Lauder says his new target is to further develop the Company’s strong position in EMEA; and that a successor for his current role will be announced soon.

Ivan Fernandez steps down after a distinguished 25-year career with the Company, which also included a variety of leadership roles spanning brands, geographies and channels.

Under his leadership, the region has achieved consistent growth ahead of the industry, ultimately becoming one of the Company’s fastest-growing regions today.

Leadership appointments

In the appointments announcement, which is always done with advance notice to ensure a smooth transition of roles and responsibilities, Stephane de la Faverie has been promoted to Global Brand President, Estée Lauder, effective July 1, 2016.

Stephane has a proven track record of building and leading global brands, deep expertise across categories and channels, and a keen understanding of local relevance, and is again tasked with further growth.

Since April 2014, de la Faverie has led Origins and Darphin, most recently in the role of Global Brand President, and the brand has seen double-digit growth in China in this period, while simultaneously invigorating the brand’s footprint in heritage markets such as North America through innovative retail capabilities.

Other appointments also announced are Nancy Mahon as Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability, effective April 15, 2016, and also Maria Cristina González Noguera as Senior Vice President, Global Public Affairs, effective July 1, 2016.

“At The Estée Lauder Companies, we are continuously focused on cultivating a team of high-potential leaders to further drive the business and our multiple engines of growth,” says Fabrizio Freda.

“These appointments match the diverse expertise of each leader to leverage their exceptional strengths and to further advance the key priorities of our business.”

Executive Chairman, William P. Lauder , adds that the distinguishing pillars of The Estée Lauder Companies have always been its incredible brand portfolio and our outstanding talent.

“These appointments are a reflection of the best-in-class leaders that continue to fuel the Company’s long-term success,” he says.
