The cosmetics retailer has been operating in Brazil since 2012 and just selected a new supply chain partner to centralize and accelerate its business.

It stands to reason that the company would be looking for efficiencies in Brazil, as the country experiences slowing economic growth. With this contract, Sephora seems to have gone with a best-in-class provider that will customize operations to meet the company’s needs and expectations.

New territory

Until now CEVA has worked with clients in several industries: automotive, publishing, energy, healthcare, aerospace, tech and fashion. Sephora, owned by LVMH, is the company’s first beauty client.

“In order to meet Sephora´s strict requirements CEVA has invested heavily in climate control infrastructure to enable the storage and handling of over 7,000 SKU and approximately three million individual order items each year,” according to a press release.

It continues, “CEVA will manage the inbound, warehousing, outbound and reverse logistics to Sephora stores across the country.”

The beauty retailer previously distributed from 40 locations in Brazil. Under this new deal the third-party logistics provider “will consolidate a variety of cosmetic products such as make-up, fragrances, hair care products, accessories, body and bath products and its own brand, Sephora Collection…into one of CEVA’s multi-user sites located just outside of São Paulo,” according to the release.

Onward and upward

The partnership is expected to help Sephora do more business in Brazil: “As we plan to grow in Brazil we can see that CEVA will support this growth and be an excellent partner to deliver our needs,” says Fabio Goncalves, supply chain regional director for Sephora, in a statement to the press.

“We chose CEVA because we needed a dynamic 3PL who could respond to our needs and precisely tailor their service offering to the fast-moving needs of a cosmetic house. Every second counts for us and the seconds with accuracy which CEVA will deliver are even better,” he adds.

The logistics company promises to meet the challenges that this new client in a new sector presents: “Our focus will be to ensure that their products are always readily available and on the shelf to meet real-time consumer demand,” adds Richard Vieites, CEVA’s managing director in South America.
