Induchem, Dow Corning and Laboratoires Expanscience were all recognised for innovative new ingredient launches at the in-cosmetics Barcelona award ceremony.

It was the first time that the Innovation Zone Best Ingredient award was split into two categories: Best Active and Functional ingredient.

Induchem received gold in the Active category for its Brightenyl product, a first generation of active ingredient designed to be activated, upon application, by the skin microbiote.

Dow Corning was awarded gold in the Functional for 3901 Liquid Satin Blend, which creates a long-lasting feel of lubricity while delivering a stringy yet novel texture.

“The standard of this years’ shortlists was remarkable. Innovation is at the heart of this industry, and these awards are a great reminder of that,” said Cathy Laporte, Exhibition Manager at in-cosmetics.

“It is always impressive to see how companies continue to find new solutions that make a real impact on the market and importantly on people’s lives.”

Green and Beiersdorf

Also taking place at the ceremony, the Green Ingredient Award, in association with Organic Monitor, was awarded to Laboratoires Expansicence for Aqualicia, a natural ‘3-in-1’ active ingredient which entraps, distributes and limits water loss of the skin.

The award ceremony also saw the return of the Beiersdorf Innovation Pitch, after a successful launch at in-cosmetics 2014 in HamburgHamHHhihrigheroig.

The three winners of the award were Azelis, Silab, and Symrise. They will allbe given the opportunity to market their innovations in association with the Nivea skin care maker.

Anniversary impact

The in-cosmetics event is celebrating its 25th year in 2015, and as such, presented a special anniversary award to Paris-based ingredients specialist Sederma for its Matrixyl ingredient.

Voted for by show visitors and a panel of expert judges, the award recognises Matrixyl as the ingredient that has had the greatest impact on the personal care ingredients market over the past quarter century.

“When we launched the ingredient, it was my dream for Matrixyl to become a household name and now it has. I am absolutely elated, that’s the only word I can use,” said Karl Lintner, former Technical Adviser to Sederma, collecting the award.
