NYSCC Suppliers’ Day 2014 will mark the US launch of Gattefossé's newest sensorial emulsifier, Emulium Mellifera, and will see the company showcase six different textures created with the ingredient at its traditional Texture Bar.

Gattefossé says that Emulium Mellifera can be used to formulate a wide range of textures, from rich protecting creams to light, translucent milks. According to the company, the natural, PEG-free ingredient has applications in skin care, sun care and second skin color cosmetics.

Based on a patented technology that transforms and functionalizes natural waxes, Emulium Mellifera was developed in recognition of the need for flexible ingredients to suit all cosmetics users, and is claimed to be the first ingredient that auto-adapts to the environment.

Indeed, Gattefossé states that Emulium Mellifera creates a soft, comfortable protective film on the skin in cold or dry climates, while in hot and humid conditions, it stabilizes the sensory properties to leave skin feeling less heavy and less greasy with a lower perceptible film.

Long-lasting moisture and improved skin appearance

The ingredients supplier highlights that Emulium Mellifera was shown in tests to visibly improve skin texture and impart immediate and long-lasting moisturization.

In a corneometry test on 10 volunteers with dry skin, an emulsion with 4 per cent Emulium was applied to the forearm area, resulting in a 43 per cent increase in moisturization after 30 minutes compared to the non-treated area, and a 40 per cent increase after eight hours.

Meanwhile, in dermatological scoring and self-assessment, 21 Asian volunteers with very dry to oily skin applied a simple emulsion with 4 per cent Emuliuma Mellifera and no active ingredient to the face twice a day for 21 days. According to Gattefossé, this resulted in a 58 per cent increase in smoothness and a 77 per cent increase in skin radiance.

Gattefossé to feature Active Bar for first time at Suppliers’ Day

Also at Suppliers’ Day, which is taking place in New Jersey from May 13-14, Gattefossé is for the first time featuring an Active Bar, with an interactive display on its Cytobiol Iris A2 ingredient that targets skin imperfections.

A blend of Iris extract, vitamin A and Zinc salt, the ingredient is designed to fight against the functional and physical signs of acne, and according to Gattefossé, has been clinically shown to minimize pores and reduce imperfections.

The firm highlights that Cytobiol Iris A2 has applications in a variety of formulations, including acne prone skin treatments, pore refining treatments and BB and CC creams.
