The organizers of the Luxe Pack event are preparing for the sixth edition of the luxury packaging show, which will take place at the Shanghai Convention Center and will host a record number of exhibitors.

The event ties in with the rapid rise of luxury goods in China, as a fast growing middle class seeks new ways to spend their expanding disposable incomes.

In the luxury cosmetics and fragrance segment, consumers are buying up luxury skin care products and fragrances in record volumes, not blinking at paying $100 and more for a product, a sum that would invariably have represented the total yearly spend on personal care items for the year for most of the China population, not much more than a decade ago.

Asian market cries out for luxury packaging

The latest edition of Luxe Pack will demonstrate how the increasingly sophisticated tastes of the Chinese consumers has translated into elaborate and often lavish packaging designs, with the aiming of demonstrating the opulence of these purchases.

The event is taking place between April 23 and 24, and the organizer says that a record 120 exhibitors will take place, a 32 percent increase on the number of exhibitors for the 2012 event, and one that easily represents the biggest event to date.

The organizer adds that 70 percent of the exhibitors are from either China or the Asia Pacific region, a figure that represents the importance of the luxury packaging in this region.

Many China-based luxury packaging providers

Indeed, many of the top suppliers of luxury packaging are located in China, with the majority of those being headquartered in the Shanghai industrial corridor.

Amongst those exhibiting are providers of creative packaging concepts, raw material providers, design agencies as well as manufacturers of packaging components, including bottles, pumps, caps, ribbons and bags.

Manufacturers already confirmed as exhibitors include suppliers from all over the world, with names such as Euro Cosmetic Asia, Ileos, CYP, SR Packaging, Yunwoo, Wanhui Plastics and Fedrigoni all booked up for booth space.

The focus of the event will be luxury cosmetic and fragances, although there will also be packaging concepts and providers who focus on areas such as watches, jewelry, chocolates, spirits and fashion.
