Dutch distributor Univar has extended its services in the personal care market to the Middle East with the opening of a new laboratory in Dubai.

The new facility will mirror the company’s existing operations in Belgium, Canada, China, Mexico, and the US, extending its ability to provide expertise, formulation advice and access to an extensive range of ingredients.

Tailored service

"The opening of this new Dubai laboratory enables Univar to differentiate itself from other distributors in the region and provide an increasingly important and tailored service to our Personal Care and Household & Industrial Cleaning industry partners," said Nick Powell, regional vice president, Univar.

"The fact that a range of testing and evaluation can be done within this single facility means Univar is not only a key source for personal care products for our customers, but is also able to offer a unique proposition to our supplier partners across the Middle East."

In action

The facility will see Univar's specialist dedicated technical team create finished products and new concepts for customer evaluation.

The chemical distributor says these services will help demonstrate to customers the functional qualities and tangible benefits that suppliers' chemical ingredients can have on end products and will cover a broad spectrum of personal care products from shampoos to body lotions.

The lab aims to give customers access to a large database of new formulations from a range of personal care products, whilst also strengthening Univar's global network of technical experts, and offers further technical services to its suppliers who may require laboratory capabilities in the Middle East.
