Probiotech & Microbiota conference focuses on new cosmetic technologies

The forthcoming Probiotech & Microbiota conference, to be held in Brussels February 5 – 6, 2013, will focus on the latest application for both the skin care and oral care categories.

Also focusing on food and nutritional applications, the two day conference will feature speakers from leading European and global businesses and institutes, including Nestle, Unilever, the Broad Institute and the Global Alliance for Probiotics.

Meanhwile, the organisers say that registrations are so far up on last year, with those attending including individuals from companies such as Beiersdorf, Colgate Palmolive, Euromonitor International and Bayer.

Key note presentation and market overview

The conference programme will commence on the first day with a keynote presentation from Dr. Rafael Crabbe, head of Nestle Clinical development, who will discuss how pre-probiotic science can translate into commercial applications.

The first morning of the programme will also include a presentation from Dr. Ewa Hudson, head of health and wellness research at Euromonitor International, who will demonstrate the latest movements in the category in both the developed and emerging markets.

After the first morning, the presentations are divided into two principal streams – pro-biotetch and microbiota – which are then each subdivided into four further key areas of interest.

Pro-biotech and microbiota conference streams

On the first day of the conference the pro-biotech stream will focus on the commercialisation of pre-probiotics, while the microbiota stream will focus on microbial gut health, genomics and the way pre-probiotic science is being developed around these applications.

On the second day of the conference the probiotech stream will continue the focus on the various commercial applications for pre-probiotics, while the microbiota stream will specifically look at cosmetic and personal care applications.

The latter segment of the conference will include presentations on the metabolic analysis of skin microbiome, oral care application that use microbiota technologies and using microbiota data for cosmetic claims.
