Next year’s Packaging of Perfums, Cosmetics & Design show will focus on the latest innovations in beauty packaging and the influence of technology on the industry at its next outing in Paris.

L’Oréal’s Pierre Ducastin, director of Innovation Packaging, will open the conference program at the event, sharing his vision of innovation issues for cosmetic industry.

The first day then continues with the focus very much on innovation as the likes of Estée Lauder and Chanel join packaging firms MWV, Rexam and Albéa to look at packaging innovations in beauty care and make-up.

Driving force

Packaging innovation is one of the driving forces behind brand development and the day will end with a look at the use of electronics in cosmetics.

In the field of care, make-up and perfumes, metal, metallic appearances and sensoriality have many applications for caps and jar tops, cans, lids and additional covers, bottle and stopper cladding and overmolding, lipstick mechanisms and rings, capsules, mascara wands, etc, and day two sees a session taking stock of the latest advances and the special features of magnetic systems.

Information and communication technologies have impacted the industry and these technologies have become everyday working tools for packaging engineers.

With this in mind, there will be a session defining what is expected of these tools and envisaging their implementation to accelerate innovation, time-to market, product differentiation for global markets and compliance with local regulatory frameworks.

Show’s 9th edition

The conference program will also feature sessions looking at biosourced plastics and renewable materials, as well as presenting boxes and counter displays.

It will be the 9th edition of PCD, and will be held on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th February 2013, at Espace Champerret, once again at the same time as the Aerosol & Dispensing Forum.

More than 2,500 participants from 40 countries are expected, representing international brands in cosmetic industry.

“This meeting will enable brand and packaging experts to gather and take stock of trends, innovations, both present and in the making. Innovation remaining the main growing factor,” say show organisers.
