DSM develops new peptide for anti-ageing purposes
DSM’s personal care unit has announced the global launch of its new anti-ageing synthetic peptide complex, SYN-TC to achieve younger looking skin.

According to the global science-based company catering to the personal care and food and dietary supplement market, the newest edition to its SYN-Peptides product range produces smoother skin in just 28 days.

“We are proud to further extend our portfolio by the addition of SYN-TC. It offers a completely new dimension in skin smoothing,” says skin care global marketing manager, Dr. Mathias Gempeler.

“This breakthrough productdemonstrates our dedication to deliver innovations to the market that make a visibledifference for consumers,” he adds.

The ingredients manufacturer highlights that it seeks to provide personal care solutions for the skin that are not only effective but also fast-acting.

How it works

SYN-TC is said to contain three tailor–made peptides (short polymers of amino acid monomers linked by peptide bonds) to increase the formation of undamaged, stable and homogenous collagen types in the skin.

Within the group of naturally occurring proteins in the epidermis (the outermost layer of skin), collagen is the most abundant and is known to be the main component in connective tissue and anchors the epidermis to the dermis, which in turn protects the body’s subcutaneous tissues.

DSM notes that although skin care products have traditionally focused primarily on collagen I to smooth the skin, types III, IV, VII, and XVII also make a major contribution to the functionality of the skin.

Tried and tested

According to DSM, extended in vivo studies using macro photographs and computer-based 3-dimensional skin imaging have confirmed a visible anti-ageing benefit in only 28 days.

Other ingredients

The Swiss ingredients player recently launched an Ecocert and Natrue certified Argan oil for the hair and skin care markets.

In an effort to target worldwide demand for natural personal care products, the company says that the double organic certification was the best way to tap into this key trend.

Pure Argan oil is said to contain high concentrations of polyunsaturated fatty acids, antioxidants and squalene, which in turn nourishes, regenerates and protects the skin while also acting as a natural shine enhancer for the hair.
