BSB Innovation Awards highlight best finished goods and ingredients

The tenth annual BSB Innovation Awards have been confirmed at a ceremony in Barcelona, Spain, with companies such as Mibelle, LaPrairie, Symrise and Merck securing prizes.

The awards recognise outstanding achievements in the cosmetics and personal care industry for both finished goods manufacturers as well as ingredients suppliers during the course of 2012.

In particular, technologically advanced products were given recognition this year, with products that incorporated advanced science in the formulations getting earmarked for recognition.

Each prize winner is selected by an international and independent jury that consists of industry professionals from leading players including La Prairie, Procter & Gamble, Unilever and Mibelle Cosmetics.

There are three main categories, finished goods, raw materials and natural products, with the latter two categories having two dedicated sub-categories.

The three award winners for the cosmetic finished goods category were:

First Prize : L`Age D´Or Marianne Eternal Cream, Isabelle Lancray, Paris

Second Prize : Sun Look light & invisible, Transparent Sun Spray, Mibelle AG Cosmetics, Switzerland

Third Prize: Aroma-Pflegedusche Lebensfreude, Kneipp-Werke, Germany

For the raw materials category, the three prize winners for innovation were:

First prize : Dermosoft Decalact, Dr Straetmans

Second prize : Symsol PF-3

Third prize : Deposilk Q-1 Polymer, AirProducts

The prizes for functional raw materials were:

First prize : Ronacare Cyclopeptide-5, Merck

Second prize : Dermcom, Mibelle Biochemistry

Third prize : Frescolat X Cool, Symrise

In the naturals category, the prizes for finished products were:

First prize : OceanCollagen ProAge Line Face Cream, oceanwell

Second prize : Naturkind Drachenkraftbad, kneipp-Werke

Third prize : Wildrose, Verwöhnende Pflegelotion, Weleda

The prizes for most innovative raw materials concept for natural products were:

First prize : Pentavitin, DSM

Second prize : Actipone Woods, Symrise.

Third prize : La´Deo, Lachemi.

Prior to the awards ceremony, it had already been announced that leading fragrance and flavours player Symrise was the winner of the BSB award for most innovative company of the first decade in the raw materials category, a prize that acknowledges the company’s contribution during the course of the ten years that the awards have been running.

The jury presented the prize on the basis of the company’s distinguished performance in the awards over the past ten years, which have included nine different wins in various sub-categories for the most innovative raw material.
