Provital has announced the launch of the first ingredient in a new line of actives based on plant stem cells with Citrustem,  produced from the Mediterranean orange.

According to the company, the active has been clinically shown to improve the skin’s architecture via modulating the expression of genes leading to an increase in the synthesis of Collagen VI, elastin and ADAM metallopeptidase—an enzyme necessary for normal collagen formation and function.

Moreover, the orange derivative is said to rejuvenate the components of the extracellular matrix results in enhanced organization and density of the dermis, leading to a more youthful appearance.

Provital also says the in vivo clinical trials showed an improvement in the skin’s microrelief profile while imparting renewed firmness, elasticity and smoothness to the skin as it reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
