Germany-based ingredients provider Dr. Straetmans will use the forthcoming in-cosmetics event in Barcelona as a platform to launch new emulsifier and deodorant ingredients.

Both ingredients meet formulators growing requirements for natural-based ingredients that are easy to formulate and have suitable environmental credentials, two trends that have become crucial to the category in recent years.

Dermofeel GO Soft is a natural food approved emulsifier for water in oil skin care formulations, while dermosoft decalact deo is said to be the first certified natural deodorant active to show clinically approved 24-hour deodorant protection.

Emulsifier suited to baby care and sun care

The emulsifier has been formulated to suit sun care and baby care formulations, mainly because these types of products are frequently used as water in oil concepts, but is also likely to suit intensive and protective types of skin care formulations.

The dermofeel GO Soft emulsifier is said to achieve a unique skin feel thanks to the fact that it converts water in oil creams into a soft, smooth consistency that is easy to apply.

The company claims that because of this functionality, this emulsifier is likely to make the heavy sensorial profile associated with traditional oil in water formulations a thing of the past.

Likewise, the ingredient is also claimed to be relatively inexpensive, while further savings can be made due to the fact that the ingredient remains effective even at low dosage levels. The simplicity of the formulation process in turn helps to reduce formulation costs and ultimately contributes to a reduction in the carbon footprint of the finished product.

Deodorant backed by clinical trials underlining efficacy

The new deodorant ingredient will also be making its debut at in-cosmetics, backed by the company’s claim that clinical trials have proven its efficacy.

Those clinical tests carried out on dermosoft decalct deo compared petrochemically derived ethylhexglycerine as the benchmark, and the company claims that the results showed its newly developed ingredient had a superior performance to the synthetic benchmark substance.

On top of this, the ingredient is also said to show an excellent toxilogical profile, a very important issue in the deodorant sector, especially given the continuing question marks over aluminium-based products.

Both of these ingredients will be showcased at Dr. Straetman’s booth at the in-cosmetics show, in Barcelona, April 17 – 19.
